Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is this for the whole family?
  • The Summer Adventure is at Camp Tugalo for the Navigators, Adventurers and Leaders. The Family Convention is for the family at Camp Toccoa. If your Trailman registers for the Summer Adventure, he will participate in Summer Adventure for the week. He won’t toggle between Summer Adventure and Family Convention. However, Summer Adventure attendees will participate (as a group) in a limited number of activities/sessions with the Family Convention.
  • Can my girls come?
  • Yes, girls can come to the Family Convention with their family. However, there will not be any sibling specific programming.
  • Do I register my family members who aren’t Trail Life members (daughters, younger children)?
  • Yes, everyone attending the Family Convention needs to be registered.
  • Can Woodlands Trail ages come? Do I register them for the Summer Adventure or the Family Convention?
  • Yes, Woodlands Trail ages can come. They will be registered with their family for the Family Convention. The Summer Adventure will include a 24 hour section of programming at Camp Tugalo for Woodlands Trail.
  • Can I go with my Woodlands Trail son for the Woodlands Trail programming at the Summer Adventure?
  • Yes, parents can go to the Summer Adventure programming with their Woodlands Trail son during the times designated for this.
  • Are any meals included in the Convention price?
  • Meals are included only in the specified package you purchase.
  • Why are the Woodlands Trail not permitted to camp?
  • Current plans call for Woodlands Trail and a parent to camp for one night at Camp Tugalo.  They will be in a separate area from the Navigators and Adventurers, but will be able to enjoy a special campfire event then participate in a special field day of their own at Tugalo while the Navigators and Adventurers are otherwise occupied.  All rules pertaining to child/youth protection policy and Woodlands Trail age-specific/acceptable activities will apply - but they're gonna have a blast with the things we have planned!
  • Will there be lots of gnats and mosquitos?
  • We ARE going to be in north Georgia!
  • For the Summer Adventure Camp, is there a leader to boy ratio required for Troops to attend?
  • You should follow the guidelines in the Health & Safety Guide. For Navigators and Adventurer age guys, you should have a minimum of 2-deep leadership. More is better for a hundred reasons, but if you can travel to camp with at least two adults, we will have LOTS of adults in camp.
  • What do Troops need to bring? Tents? Cooking equipment?
  • You're camping, so all the things you would want to have a wonderful week under the stars should be on your list. Look in your Nav/Adv handbook for a good list of what you should take on a camping trip or google that and you'll find lots of good starting lists - then tailor it to your group's unique needs. We will be publishing a Leader's Guide book as we get closer to the event, and this will contain a suggested list. I'd also suggest a local area shakedown trip or two before you travel for any larger camping trip!
  • Can adult leaders at the summer camp attend convention sessions?
  • There will be some occassions when convention attendees are invited to the camp and vice versa, but when you register for one side of the event, that is your primary role for the week.
  • Will there be training sessions for adult leaders at Summer Adventure?
  • The nature of the trainings will be inherently different between Summer Adventure and Family Convention. In the big picture, the focus in the Summer Adventure is the youth. If you're attending the Family Convention, training/break-out sessions will be focused on your role as a leader and for your family. The full list of sessions is still being developed so it is difficult to be more specific at this writing.
  • What are the typical weather patterns for Toccoa, GA?
