Although I appreciate animations like Finding Nemo or the Incredibles for they represent a renewal of the genre (in the same way the Disney movie did in the 50's), the artistic style of La Planete Sauvage is unmistakable and accords perfectly with the dark atmosphere of the movie. Suprisingly enough it's perfectly matched by the equally brilliant "RevRev", which leads us in to the almost as good, but just ever so slightly flawed "Herbal Scent", which has this cow bell that kinda kills the vibe. Madlib always manages to add an interesting twist on the vocals he has to work with, but they're not always for the better. It's actually pretty cool because this is a Lootpack record in everything but name, very much in the same way the Wu-Tang solo albums more Wu-Tang showcases than actual solo albums.
