Embarrassingly enough, I've only recently discovered Lovecraft and although I'm not really a horror fantasy fan, i immediately fell in love with his writing.

Lots of references to Greek or other myths that you wouldn't know unless you were relatively well-read; it wouldn't detract from the story if you didn't know them, but it definitely adds to the aura of this tale if you do a quick Google search to understand them. Not many weeks ago, on a street corner in the village of Pascoag, Rhode Island, a tall, heavily built, and wholesome-looking pedestrian furnished much speculation by a singular lapse of behaviour. Picked up and dusted off by ready hands, he was found to be conscious, organically unhurt, and evidently cured of his sudden nervous attack.
