After an initial ascent of 200 feet or so, West Ridge Trail levels out somewhat and offers a nice view of the Loveland bowl and I-70 far below. A trail you want to be prepared for with appropriate hiking gear. Be mindful of the high altitude on this trail if new to Colorado or visiting. Short, but it’s all above 12,000 feet. But the wind was at times terrifying! Driving up over Loveland Pass is quite the experience.

West Ridge Trail from Loveland Pass is a 4.5 kilometer heavily trafficked out and back trail located near Dillon, Colorado that features beautiful wild flowers and is rated as moderate. These are farther away than they appear and the ridgeline between Grizzly and Torreys is not the recommended route. Beautiful views! Take in the amazing 360 degree views as you are whisked along the North side of The Ridge in the comfort of our 18 passenger snowcat. Beautiful, short trail with lost of views! It starts uphill fairly steep & then nice until the very last pitch to the summit which is a short distance needing attention.
The trail is very rocky in places. Particularly Special Place. So, be sure to stay to the west side while hiking along the ridge. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash. Plenty of uphill. PLEASE TURN OFF YOUR CAPS LOCK.
