Please refer to our Photo Archives. The New Zealand Web Archive is a collection of archived New Zealand and Pacific websites. A summary of the results will be shown for the records and series levels.
The series and records entities provide information about the content of the records and how they were organised and used. ‘Provincial Secretary, Secretary For Public Works, Railways Office. The organisation, jurisdiction, function and agency entities give you contextual information about how government has been structured and what it did. NB. Archived websites selected in the communities subject area are rich in diversity, with a focus on national and local ethnic and community groups, support groups, and Pasifika. Some government archives are also held in other repositories around the country. Overseas, NZ Chinese, and Maori Missionary activity; Women's work; Youth work; Ordained Ministers and Deaconesses. The limitation to searching at the record level is that any keyword search is based only on the title of the records. Your subject might have served in the armed forces, been granted land by government, been naturalised as a New Zealander, registered as an enemy alien during the war, been involved in a crime, worked for government, or died under suspicious circumstances.

Clearing your search criteria - in the Advanced Search you can click on the appropriate level in the diagram to clear your search, or choose ‘new search’ from the top of the screen. Once you have a list of records, by whatever pathway, Archway will give you the option to refine this by other criteria, e.g. by date range, or by the office of Archives New Zealand in which the records are held.

Other content like music and videos that are embedded files from external sites, for example,YouTube, Vimeo or Soundcloud, or content that needs an external media player are not archived, with the web harvest, but may be available elsewhere in the collection. NB.

Music websites can be quite ephemeral by nature and this collection includes a wide range of sites, many that are no longer online. Their names may be captured in indexes, which cannot yet be searched on-line.
