Yet, if you try to talk about sex or have serious discussions on the topic people get embarrassed and shy. When Goblet of Fire came out, I saw the news stories and heard the controversy. Although I love Taylor Lautner and his barely legal werewolf vibe, the dude is queerer than a three dollar bill and, thus, sorely miscast as a walking heterosexual hard on. I have to agree that banning books is a Little extreme and that parents should be able to sit Down their children and make them understand why they shouldn't read some Things. Seems a little odd when you take into account that Meyer was brought up as a Mormon and abstinence is a major theme of the books. There's nothing in Twilight that is hard core enough to warrant a ban, just as there is nothing in Harry Potter that warrants a ban. Young Adult books were seen for years as safe and harmless. I enjoyed them taking me back to the heady high school romances – fancying a boy…. Come on, that book is squeaky clean. I can’t believe that so many swoon over him. I think it’s wonderful how many people were, in a sense, introduced to reading for pleasure by these books. BETH: Ahhh, Twilight, what a blast from the past!
